England Under-19s enforced the follow-on against New Zealand after bowling their visitors out for 234 in the first innings.
They closed day three of the first Test on 102 for two second time around, with George Worker once again the pick of the batsmen with 33 to go with his top-score of 72 in New Zealand's initial effort.
Four wickets from Ian Saxelby underlined England Under 19's successful bowling, with Chris Woakes also picking up excellent figures of 3-30 from 21 overs.
In response, New Zealand's opening pair of Worker and Dean Robinson put on 50 for the first wicket before the latter was trapped lbw by Liam Dawson. He had made 13 off 81 balls.
Two runs later Worker was also out, caught and bowled by Will Beer as New Zealand went to stumps still 176 runs behind their hosts.
