James Vince hit a brutal hundred and Chris Jones fell narrowly short of another as the South & West crushed the North at the ECB Under-17 Regional Festival.
Hampshire batsman Vince smashed 102 off just 72 balls while Somerset’s Jones compiled a more measured 96 in the South & West’s mammoth total of 309 for eight.
That proved well beyond the North, who followed up their defeat against the Midlands by being bowled out for a paltry 101 inside 20 overs at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.
Vince and Jones shared a stand of 149 for the second wicket as the North bowlers were made to suffer. Only Joe Root emerged with much credit after returning figures of 3-45.
The North fared even worse with the bat as Danny Briggs claimed 5-21 in 6.1 overs and James Burke 3-24.
Though Ben Raine hit 51 off only 37 deliveries at the top of the order, the North lost their last eight wickets for just 45 runs as they were bowled out with 30.5 overs unused.
The result extended the South & West's unbeaten record at the festival, which ends on Thursday when they meet the Midlands, while the North go up against London & East.
