Watch exclusive interview with Tim Bresnan after England's victory at the SCG

Tim Bresnan called England’s fans “the best in the world” after they cheered the tourists to a 3-1 Ashes victory.

An innings-and-83-run demolition of Australia at the SCG made Andrew Strauss’ side the first England team to win an Ashes series Down Under since 1986-87.

During that time, travelling fans have flocked to Ashes tours in growing numbers only to witness painful defeats.

However, they have remained faithful, dominating the SCG today, and Bresnan credited them for their support all tour.

“Since all the time we’ve been here they just been magnificent, I can’t thank them enough,” he told

“Even the supporters at home as well. England fans are the best fans in the world, especially the Barmy Army.”

Bresnan was preferred to Steven Finn for the last two Tests but praised the 21-year-old, who was the series’ leading wicket-taker after three matches.

“It’s unbelievable to win it 3-1, just a fantastic achievement by all the boys," he added. "People like Finny, loads of wickets in the first three Tests, it’s just outstanding."

The seamer did his best to ignore the celebrations of his fellow tourists to put England’s historic achievement in perspective.

“An amazing Ashes win away from home - 20-odd years since the last time it was done - fantastic achievement by all the lads,” he said.
