Shaun Marsh

Shaun Marsh, who hit a match-winning 59 against England in July, has taken Mike Hussey's place in Australia's ODI squad

Australia have called up fellow batsman Shaun Marsh in place of the injured Mike Hussey for the next three matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series.

Western Australian left-hander Marsh, who has played in 29-one-day internationals, will link up with the hosts tomorrow for Friday’s second game in Hobart.

Hussey has been ruled out of the remainder of the series after undergoing surgery on his injured hamstring today.

However, he has been named in Australia’s 15-man World Cup squad.

Marsh, who scored 59 in victory over England Lord’s in July, last played for his country in an ODI against Sri Lanka in November

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said: "Shaun can bat at the top of the order and also in the middle order if required.

"Shaun showed against England at Lord's earlier this year that he has the ability to win an ODI game with the bat and this gives him another opportunity for Australia.”
