Yuvraj to feature in tour opener
England are set to come up against Yuvraj Singh in their first warm-up match in India.
The experienced all-rounder has been named in an intriguing 14-man India A squad, to be led by Suresh Raina, featuring numerous players with international experience.
India have opted not to select a frontline slow bowler for the three-day fixture at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium, which starts next Tuesday - denying England an early opportunity to test themselves against spin.
Yuvraj’s inclusion marks another significant milestone following his recovery from a rare form of cancer.
He featured in the recent World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka and, after striking 208 for North Zone on his return to four-day cricket last week, has now been given the opportunity to push for a Test recall.
England’s players tomorrow fly out to Dubai, where they will spend three days before moving on to India ahead of a four-Test series.
India A squad to face England: Suresh Raina (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Manoj Tiwary, Robin Bist, Ashok Menaria, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda, Vinay Kumar, Parvinder Awana.
