Sehwag left out for England ODIs
India have axed veteran opener Virender Sehwag for the first three encounters of their five-match one-day international series against England.
Sehwag was left out today as the hosts gained a face-saving victory against Pakistan, who were already 2-0 up in a three-game rubber, and has now been omitted from the squad to face Alastair Cook’s side.
Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s best batsman in the Test series between the teams, has been given a maiden ODI call-up and Rohit Sharma has kept his place despite a poor run of form.
The squad is otherwise unchanged from the one that fared poorly against their bitter rivals.
India squad to face England: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain, wicketkeeper), Cheteshwar Pujara, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravinchandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami Ahmed, Amit Mishra.
