Bracewell set for Black Caps return
Doug Bracewell has been added to New Zealand’s squad for the third and final Test against England under the proviso that he proves his fitness in a domestic game.
Bracewell would have been an automatic selection for the first two encounters, yet cut his foot on some glass ahead of the series opener.
His inclusion, which is dependent on him coming through a domestic match for the Central Stags, is the only change to the Black Caps’ squad for the Auckland Test.
"Doug's availability creates a real battle for spots for this deciding ANZ Test against England. It also helps to manage the workload for a group of bowlers who have carried a heavy load during the first two Tests," said head coach Mike Hesson.
"We'll be keenly watching how he performs in the Ford Trophy and how his foot comes through the game.”
The series is currently locked at 0-0 after draws in the opening two games, which were both shortened by inclement weather.
New Zealand squad for the third Test against England: Brendon McCullum, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell (pending getting through Ford Trophy match), Dean Brownlie, Ian Butler, Peter Fulton, Tom Latham, Bruce Martin, Hamish Rutherford, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
