England on course for ICC jackpot

If England remain the top-ranked Test side on April 1, they will get the US$175,000 given annually by the International Cricket Council
England will secure US$175,000 with victory in a single Test against Pakistan, or if they lose the three-match series by one game.
The jackpot will be England’s if they remain top of the International Cricket Council Test rankings by the April 1 cut-off when the annual prize is awarded.
Andrew Strauss’ side rose to the top of the table for the first time in August when they completed a 4-0 whitewash of previous incumbents India.
They hold a seven-point lead over second-placed India, whose rating will drop after next week’s Adelaide Test with Australia leading that four-Test rubber 3-0.
Only England losing to Pakistan 2-0 or 3-0 combined with third-placed South Africa whitewashing New Zealand in their three-Test series will see Strauss’ team miss out on the prize.
Even in that scenario, England would pick up US$75,000 for being second on April 1.
