Mohammad Talha

Mohammad Talha was part of the Pakistan Cricket Board XI defeated by England earlier this month. The seamer, who was not selected in Dubai, has now been ruled out of the remaining Tests due to a back problem

Pakistan seamer Mohammad Talha has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against England due to a back injury.

Talha, whose solitary international appearance to date came in the abandoned Test against Sri Lanka in March 2009, was not selected for last week’s opening match in Dubai, where Pakistan recorded a convincing 10-wicket victory.

Following an MRI scan, it has now been confirmed that the 23-year-old is suffering from a disc problem, which will necessitate 10 to 12 days of rest.

Pakistan have chosen not to call up a replacement for Talha, with left-armers Junaid Khan and Wahab Riaz already in the squad alongside Umar Gul and Aizaz Cheema, the two fast bowlers utilised in Dubai.
