Broad escapes serious injury
Stuart Broad has suffered no major damage to his right shoulder, but the seamer will sit out England’s two remaining warm-up matches ahead of the limited-overs series against South Africa, the ECB has confirmed.
The 23-year-old seamer suffered the injury after jarring his shoulder during England’s opening tour game against the Diamond Eagles in Bloemfontein, a game in which Broad took two wickets.
An ECB statement said that England’s medical staff will continue to assess the knock.
One of his potential replacements in England’s second warm-up match against the Warriors tomorrow, Graham Onions, is also facing a late fitness test on stiffness in his lower back.
The 50-over match in Kimberley is followed by a Twenty20 friendly with South Africa A in Bloemfontein, before England play South Africa in the opening Twenty20 international at the Wanderers on November 13.
