Close shave troubles Sarwan
Ramnaresh Sarwan has warned his West Indies team-mates not to allow a repeat of the Antigua third Test drama - after they escaped defeat at the hands of England by the narrowest of margins.
Man of the match Sarwan struck 106 in the second innings at the Antigua Recreation Ground as England were left one wicket short of levelling the series.
His second hundred of the series took him to a tally of 307 runs in three innings and also shot him into the world's top 15 Test batsmen.
However, the 28-year-old is keen to avoid further rearguard actions in West Indies' bid for a rare series win.
"There's two to go and we don't want to look too far ahead," Sarwan said. "We have to get mentally and physically ready because this game took a lot out of us.
"It is important we don't find ourselves in the same situation because if we do it will be hard to get out of it."
Sarwan shared a crucial 148-run stand with fellow Guyanese player Shivnarine Chanderpaul at the Rec but tailenders Daren Powell and Fidel Edwards took the plaudits by resisting for 34 minutes in the evening gloom.
Powell, who took the lion's share of the strike, may have preserved the hosts' 1-0 advantage, but he is under pressure for under-par returns with the ball - he has only four wickets to date in the series at 48.75 apiece.
"I am pretty concerned about my bowling," Powell admitted. "If I was another player looking in and seeing someone in my shoes, not picking up wickets, I would feel bad not to be playing.
"I have a bit of a problem with the way I grip the ball; I am working on it, it's getting better, my control is getting better.
"Hopefully in Barbados I can keep on working, trying to get more consistent and pick up wickets.
"I have to go out there, put all that is being said behind me and back myself. I've said we are going to beat England 3-0 and for us to do that I have to be taking wickets."
