England duo cleared to continue tour

England v West Indies
Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen's back injury will not keep him out of the fifth one-dayer in St Lucia

Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen have been given the all-clear to rejoin England's one-day squad after further examinations of their injuries in Barbados.

England's two biggest stars stayed behind on the island to have further scans on injuries sustained during Sunday's nine-wicket triumph over West Indies at Kensington Oval, which set up a series decider on Friday.

But the scans, which were sent back to London for further examination, have cleared both players to rejoin the squad and they will now travel to meet up with their team-mates at their St Lucia base.

Pietersen was only able to deliver five balls in Sunday's match before limping off the field with a back spasm which England feared could have ruled him out of the final match.

All-rounder Flintoff suffered a left thumb injury in the field and although an ultra-sound scan confirmed there was no fracture, he was sent for a further examination as a precaution.
