Powell axed for Rampaul
West Indies have called Ravi Rampaul into their squad for the third and fourth one-day internationals of the ongoing series against England in Barbados.
Rampaul, the 24-year-old Trinidadian seamer, replaces Daren Powell, who took just six wickets in the Test series, and did not feature in the second ODI in Guyana.
Rampaul last played an international match last winter, in the Windies’ ODI series in South Africa. He also featured for Trinidad & Tobago in the recent Stanford 20/20 for 20 series in Antigua.
West Indies make one other change to their 13-man party, with uncapped opening batsman Dale Richards drafted in for Devon Smith.
Richards, 32, had been called into the Test squad for the start of the Wisden Trophy, but was forced to withdraw with a foot injury sustained while playing for Barbados.
There is still no return for the Windies’ premier pace bowler, Jerome Taylor, who continues his comeback from injury.
West Indies squared the five-match ODI series in the second match at the Providence Stadium. The Kensington Oval hosts the third and fourth matches on March 27 and 29.
West Indies squad: Chris Gayle (capt), Denesh Ramdin (wkt), Lionel Baker, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Nikita Miller, Keiron Pollard, Ravi Rampaul, Dale Richards, Darren Sammy, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons.
