Broad set to overcome stomach bug
Stuart Broad had to miss England practice this morning after again succumbing to a stomach upset but is expected to be fit to face India in the World Cup tomorrow.
Andrew Strauss reported Broad, who went down with a similar complaint almost as soon as England arrived on the sub-continent two weeks ago, is again in discomfort.
But the England captain appeared confident too that the new-ball bowler will be recovered in time to face the tournament favourites and co-hosts in a high-profile Group B match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
“Stuart Broad is struggling with a bit of a stomach upset today but he should be fully fit tomorrow,” said Strauss. “Otherwise everyone is fine.”
Broad went down with tummy trouble within hours of England’s flight to Dhaka for their two warm-up matches, but was soon fit enough to take a five-wicket haul in each of those two fixtures - against Canada and Pakistan.
He took the new ball alongside James Anderson in England’s opening Group B victory versus the Netherlands in Nagpur four days ago.
