One of two arenas in Sri Lanka built specifically for the World Cup, this ground on the south coast is the only one of the 13 employed throughout the tournament that has never hosted international cricket. It bears the name of the current Sri Lanka President but is also referred to as the Suriyawewa Cricket Stadium.

This imposing concrete bowl of a stadium, renamed in 1994 in honour of the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa, is the largest in Sri Lanka. With seven fixtures set to be played here, it will also be the tournament’s busiest venue.

Also known as the Muttiah Muralitharan International Stadium after the country’s greatest player, this venue had hosted just one international match - a Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies last December. It is modelled on SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa.
