Sehwag avoids serious injury

Virender Sehwag receives attention after being struck in the ribs but was later passed fit to face England in Bangalore on Sunday
Virender Sehwag will be fit to face England in India’s second World Cup Group B match, despite suffering a minor rib injury in the nets today.
India’s dashing opener, who began the tournament by smashing a one-day international-best 175 against Bangladesh in Sunday’s opening match, was hit while batting during his team’s practice.
Team manager Ranjib Biswal described it as merely a “precautionary measure” that Sehwag took no further part in the net session.
It was later confirmed he has suffered only very minor bruising and is expected to be fit to play on Sunday.
His team-mate Yuvraj Singh, who took a blow to his hand in practice yesterday, has also been passed fit to take on England.
