Tremlett fills Broad's boots
Chris Tremlett has been confirmed as Stuart Broad’s replacement in the England World Cup squad.
The International Cricket Council today approved England’s application, Broad having been forced to return home due to a side strain.
Fellow pace bowler Tremlett, who has been with the party throughout the competition as a stand-by player, was the obvious man to come in for Broad.
Broad left his team-mates behind in Chittagong this afternoon, and this evening the ICC’s event technical commitee confirmed Tremlett will be take his place.
He is the second replacement player England have needed in the past two days, having summoned Eoin Morgan in place of the injured Kevin Pietersen on Monday.
Middle-order batsman Morgan joined the squad for practice at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium today, in preparation for Friday’s Group B fixture against Bangladesh at the same venue.
