Pakistan call for Razzaq
Abdul Razzaq is to replace injured pace bowler Yasir Arafat in Pakistan’s squad at the ICC World Twenty20, following approval by the International Cricket Council.
The ICC technical committee tonight confirmed that all-rounder Razzaq can replace Arafat, who has a hamstring injury.
Razzaq last represented his country in a one-day international against Sri Lanka in May 2007.
He recently terminated his contract with an unofficial cricket league and subsequently received a sanction from the Pakistan Cricket Board for his involvement in the league.
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said: “The PCB advised the ICC they have imposed a sanction on Abdul Razzaq in accordance with the ICC board resolution.”
Pakistan’s next World Twenty20 match is on Friday against Sri Lanka at Lord’s.
