Stafanie Taylor impressed with bat and ball as West Indies cruised into the semi-finals of the Women’s World Twenty20 by virtue of a 10-wicket Group B victory over South Africa.

After being asked to bat, none of South Africa’s top six were able to reach double figures as Taylor claimed 3-10 and Shaquana Quintyne 2-14.

Dane van Niekerk and Shabnim Ismail rebuilt somewhat with 29 and 16 respectively, yet the Proteas still had to settle for a disappointing total of 70 for eight.

That provided few problems for the Windies’ openers; Taylor finished unbeaten on 33 and Juliana Nero 30 as they eased home.

An excellent all-round bowling display ensured New Zealand progressed at the expense of hosts Sri Lanka.

Morna Nielsen, Erin Bermingham and Sian Ruck claimed two wickets apiece as Sri Lanka, having opted to bat, were dismissed for just 89 in 17.4 overs.

Each of the White Ferns' top four then made contributions - Suzie Bates hit 16, Amy Satterthwaite 32 not out, Sophie Devine 23 and Frances Mackay an unbeaten 13 - as they eased home by eight wickets.

West Indies and New Zealand will find out their last-four opponents tomorrow, when England and Australia - both of whom have already qualified - meet.
