Twenty20 qualifier set to begin
The World Twenty20 qualifier gets underway tomorrow as 16 teams battle it out for two places in the showpiece.
The tournament features a host of impressive names such as Michael Di Venuto and Geraint Jones, who are representing Italy and Papua New Guinea respectively.
Furthermore, some of the affiliate nations’ more established teams like Ireland, Afghanistan, Kenya and Holland are also taking part.
With just a couple of spots up for grabs, competition promises to be fierce as 72 games take place at five venues across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah in less than two weeks.
The teams have been split into two equal groups, with the two winners facing off for the first qualification place.
The sides finishing second and third in the groups will then compete for a chance to play the loser of the first qualification final for a spot in the tournament proper.
