Finch flies for U19s
Harry Finch’s fifty put England Under-19s on course for a strong first half of their two-day tour match with a Western Cape Invitation XI at the Wally Wilson Oval, Newlands, in Cape Town.
The number three batsman retired out on 52, which proved to be 22 more than anyone else managed as 17 wickets fell on the opening day of action on England’s tour.
Captain Shiv Thakor hit 30 before declaring the innings on 132 for seven from 60 overs. The hosts were then dismissed for 117 in 36.1 overs by stumps as off-spinner Miles Hammond took 3-26 and there were two wickets each for Thakor and Josh Shaw.
England are due to play two four-day Tests and five one-day internationals versus their South Africa counterparts.
