U19s set for Australia clash
Australia stand in England’s way of returning home from the Under-19 World Cup with some silverware.
The two sides meet on Saturday in the Super League play-off final after Australia’s place was confirmed following their washed-out encounter with Bangladesh.
Rain forced the game to be abandoned six overs into Australia’s reply at Bayuemas Oval, but they progressed courtesy of their superior run-rate during the tournament.
Australia - 18 without loss chasing 116 to win - looked well placed to triumph before the weather intervened.
David King took 2-17, Clive Rose 2-18 and Josh Hazlewood 2-34 as Bangladesh collapsed from 87 for three to be bowled out with more than eight overs unused.
England booked their place in the Super League play-off final courtesy of an eight-run win over Sri Lanka on the Duckworth-Lewis method on Wednesday, having been knocked out of the tournament proper following defeat by India in the quarter-finals.
India will face the winners of Friday’s South Africa-Pakistan clash in the showpiece final, which takes place at Kinrara Oval on Sunday.
