Tenacious Tigers level series
Bangladesh Under-19s spin bowlers put the mockers on England’s batsmen to level the youth one-day international series with a 53-run win in the fourth match at Hove.
England appeared to have done well to limit the Tigers to 192 in 46.2 overs, despite a fiery 53 from Anamul Haque and a mid-innings revival by Shabbir Rahman (28) and Nur Hussain (33).
Hamza Riazuddin (2-20) was particularly effective at strangling the Bangladesh batsmen, along with spin duo Azeem Rafiq (2-28) and Danny Briggs (2-36).
But Bangladesh hit back, reducing England to 119 for five in reply.
Despite another good start for Sam Northeast, ended by Anamul's fine stumping, England could not come to terms with the task of playing Bangladesh’s three frontline spinners, Rahman, Nur and Mahmudul Hasan.
England were eventually shot out for 139 with five overs left to bat. Rahman took 2-19 to supplement his counter-attacking with the bat.
With the rubber locked at 1-1, the sides reconvene at Hove tomorrow to decide the outcome of the series.
