Rashid on point of return
England Under-19 leg-spinner Adil Rashid is well on his way to full fitness and is on the point of resuming bowling after a stress fracture of the back.
Rashid is due to have a scan next week after he experienced pain during Yorkshire’s last match of the season and suffered a partial fracture of the lumbar spine.
Rashid has started back-strengthening work and is due to begin light bowling drills in the next few weeks.
The 18-year-old bowled 327.4 overs for Yorkshire and England Under-19 during the final two months of the season and he took 25 wickets in five Liverpool Victoria County Championship matches.
He hopes to be bowling in the nets early in the new year after not being considered for England Under-19s tour of Malaysia, due to the injury, which runs from January 23 to February 24.
Rashid took 6-67 against Warwickshire at Scarborough on his first-class debut.
