Wells sinks Notts
Luke Wells starred for an Elite Player Development Under-19 XI as they gained revenge over an Nottinghamshire 2nd XI at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.
The young Sussex batsman hit 47 not out from 99 balls to see the U19s to their target of 103 by one wicket and avenge their defeat to the same opposition yesterday.
The U19s had been in trouble at one for three but Wells batted through the innings to impress the England selectors, who on Monday will announce the squad to tour Bangladesh from October 7 to November 5.
Earlier in the day Middlesex’s Ravi Patel had led the way with the ball, recording figures of 3-13, to bowl Nottinghamshire out for 102 in 41.2 overs.
The tour of Bangladesh will include seven one-day internationals and one Test. Following the tour to Bangladesh a squad will be selected to play in the U19 World Cup in New Zealand in January 2010.
