Captain Anamul Haque’s century helped Bangladesh secure seventh place at the Under-19 World Cup with a five-wicket defeat of Pakistan at Townsville.

The skipper’s 128 from 112 balls aided a chase of 236 with 3.4 overs to go. He added 179 for the second wicket with opener Litton Das, who hit 53.

Pakistan, who were 118 for six, owed much to 82 from number seven Mohammad Nawaz in reaching 235 for eight. Nawaz was bowled by Taskin Ahmed, who took 3-80 from 10 overs.

Niroshan Dickwella’s unbeaten fifty guided Sri Lanka to ninth place courtesy of a seven-wicket win over Afghanistan in Brisbane.

Lahiru Madushanka’s 3-34 helped to limit Afghanistan to 194 for nine and Dickwella’s 76 ensured victory with 11 overs left.

Scotland came 11th thanks to a five-wicket triumph versus Ireland at Brisbane.

Three wickets for Ruaidhri Smith and Aman Bailwal restricted Ireland, for whom Tyrone Kane top-scored with 78, to 182 all out.

Opener Ross McLean’s 47 then set Scotland on their way to the win, which came with 8.2 overs outstanding.
