Australia v England to open U19 WC
England’s group game with hosts and defending champions Australia will be the first match of August’s Under-19 World Cup.
The Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville, Queensland, will stage the contest on Saturday 11 August.
England are also in action the next day, versus Ireland at Townsville’s Endeavour Park. Their last Group A encounter is against Nepal on August 16 at the Tony Ireland Stadium.
Should England come first or second in their pool, they will progress to the main quarter-finals. A third or fourth-place group finish will take them into the last eight of the plate competition.
England’s games at the Tony Ireland Stadium will be televised by ESPN Star Sports, along with two main quarter-finals, the semi-finals and final on August 26.
Prior to these, England will play warm-ups with Pakistan on August 7 at the Redlands Fred Kratzman Oval and the next day versus Zimbabwe at the University of Queensland’s WEP Harris Oval.
It has also been announced that the United Arab Emirates will host the 2014 U19 World Cup.
