The Windies prevailed in a low-scoring contest by defending 182 all out, during which Test batsman and U19 captain Kraigg Brathwaite top-scored with 39 from the top of the order and left-arm seamer Mir Hamza took 3-44.

Pakistan were on course to overhaul that at 71 for two in the 21st over when Umar Waheed, on 31, became a first wicket for left-arm spinner Derone Davis, who added opener Babar Azam for 38 en route to 3-20.

Sri Lanka thrashed Ireland by 109 runs in Brisbane to book a place in Friday’s ninth-10th play-off with Afghanistan and consign today’s opponents to the 11th-12th place game versus Scotland on the same day.

Sandun Weerakkody’s unbeaten 112 underpinned 258 all out as limited-overs international spinner George Dockrell returned 3-39.

Paceman Lahiru Madushanka then destroyed Ireland’s batting with 6-24 from 7.5 overs. Shane Getkate top-scored with 46.
