India pace bowler Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the first one-day international against England with an ankle injury.
Sharma aggravated the problem during the Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia and will not be fit in time for the game at Rajkot on Friday.
"Ishant Sharma has a mild ankle sprain and has been advised to rest for five days," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement.
"He is undergoing rehabilitation at present and is making good progress.
"He will not be available for the first one-dayer against England."
Sharma was named man of the series in the four Tests against Australia, taking 15 wickets as India claimed a 2-0 series win.
