Gidman and Kirtley called up
The England selectors have announced that Gloucestershire all-rounder Alex Gidman and Sussex pace bowler James Kirtley had been called up as replacements to the England A team's current tour of Bangladesh.
Gidman replaces Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara who was named in the England World Cup squad last week and Kirtley comes in for Kent fast bowler Amjad Khan who has a knee injury.
Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney, said: “We are particularly disappointed for Amjad Khan because he had only recently qualified to play for England and we hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
“This is a great opportunity for Alex Gidman who had to return home from the A team’s tour of Malaysia and India through injury in 2004 and also for James Kirtley who will be keen to make an impression.”
