Lions call for Parry
Lancashire left-arm spinner Stephen Parry has been called into the England Lions squad for the final of the triangular one-day tournament against West Indies A or India A.
The 24-year-old replaces James Tredwell, who will link up with the senior one-day party ahead of the NatWest Series against Bangladesh following the Lions’ final round-robin game against India A today.
Parry’s call-up represents a reward for his impressive domestic form this season.
He has been an ever-present in Lancashire’s one-day side, and is among the leading bowlers in the Friends Provident t20 with 20 wickets at 13.50 apiece in 11 games. Only Alfonso Thomas and Adil Rashid have taken more.
The Lions have already secured their place in Thursday’s final at New Road, while India A need to win today to book their spot at West Indies A's expense.
Lions captain Alastair Cook, who has missed the last three matches with a back problem, could return to play in the final if he suffers no adverse reaction to taking part in practice this afternoon.
