Chris Woakes claimed two wickets as England Lions looked to press home their advantage against Combined Campuses & Colleges today

Chris Woakes and Danny Briggs built on the good work of Jimmy Adams as England Lions continued to enjoy the better of their West Indies Cricket Board championship match against Combined Campuses & Colleges in Barbados.

Woakes and Briggs each returned figures of 2-34 to help restrict CC&C to 176 for five in their first innings, still 197 runs adrift at the Three Ws Oval.

The Lions were dismissed for 373 earlier in the day, with Adams taking his score to 142 and Jonathan Bairstow adding a valuable 85. Off-spinner Ryan Austin took the last five wickets - all to catches - to bolster his two yesterday.

The tourists’ fifth-wicket pair, who resumed on 115 and 34 respectively, extended their 86-run overnight alliance to 134 before left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh trapped Adams in front.

They lost 5-34, Austin having Adil Rashid held at point, Woakes at backward short-leg, Bairstow at slip playing a reverse sweep, Briggs at forward short-leg and Maurice Chambers at slip.

Wickets continued to fall regularly as left-arm spinner Briggs bowled Romel Currency and Kjorn Ottley either side of leg-spinner Rashid breaching opener Omar Phillips’s defence on 36.

Kyle Corbin and Raymon Reifer responded with a 57-run alliance until seamer Woakes had the former caught behind for 54 and took a return catch to dismiss Shacaya Thomas.

Reifer was four short of a half-century and Nkruma Bonner unbeaten on 13 at stumps.
