Rain holds up Lions
England Lions were once again frustrated by the weather as rain prevented them pressing home their advantage in the WICB regional championship match against Guyana.
Play did not start until 3.45pm and only 6.4 overs were possible on another cold, gloomy day at Providence Stadium, during which time the Lions stuttered from 42 without loss to 68 for three.
They may trail Guyana by just 10 runs after bowling them out for just 78 yesterday but, with one day remaining in this four-day contest, a fourth draw in five matches appears the most likely outcome. With the first day washed out completely, fewer than 51 overs have been bowled in the game.
Craig Kieswetter had added just four to his overnight 21 when he was caught behind off Brandon Bess, and Adam Lyth and Ben Stokes - playing his second game on tour - fell in quick succession to Assad Fudaddin’s medium-pace as Guyana prospered in continually seam-friendly conditions.
James Hildreth and Jonathan Bairstow will resume for the Lions tomorrow on five and 14 respectively.
