Michael Yardy will captain the England Lions when they tour India in early 2008.
The Sussex all-rounder takes charge of a 13-man squad that will compete in the Duleep Trophy, India’s premier domestic competition, in February.
Yardy takes over from Vikram Solanki, who led the Lions against India last summer.
Monty Panesar has been included in the touring party after being left out of the England one-day squad.
He will travel with the Lions before joining up with the Test squad for the series in New Zealand starting in late February.
