Adil Rashid will take part in an EPP game against Highveld Lions, while James Tredwell becomes second-choice spinner
England have announced that Test squad members Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett are leaving the one-day international party to instead take part in a four-day England Performance Programme match.
Leg-spinner Rashid was replaced in the ODI team to face South Africa at Newlands today by off-spinner Graeme Swann, fit again after a side injury.
James Tredwell, meanwhile - brought into the ODI squad like Plunkett as cover for injury - will remain as a like-for-like understudy for Swann.
The match against Highveld Lions, which begins on Monday, may also feature Test opener Alastair Cook.
Cook stayed with the EPP in Pretoria rather than flying south with the ODI squad last week after suffering a minor back injury.

Rashid, Plunkett, Cook are mentioned in connection with the Performance squad match against Highveld Lions. What about the other Test player Ian Bell training alongside the Performance Squad? Does he get a game or will he be underprepared when turning up for the Friendlies before the Test matches? Could the ECB please keep us informed about all the Test squad players who are not in the ODIs? Some of us want to know what is going on.
