Steven Finn marked his return to action with eye-catching figures of 4-50 as the England Performance Programme impressed on the opening day against a DY Patil Academy XI in Mumbai.

The paceman missed England's first two Tests of four against India due to a thigh injury and was stepping up his comeback today ahead of the third match next week at Kolkata.

Lancashire left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan claimed four wickets of his own, returning 4-61, while Scott Borthwick and Stuart Meaker chipped in with one apiece to limit the hosts to 204 all out in 67.3 overs.

Opening batsmen Joe Root and Varun Chopra put on 52 before the latter was lbw for 22. Root closed the day on 40 from 57 balls, alongside Eoin Morgan, in a score of 70 for one from 19 overs.
