Andrew Strauss' England remain top of the ICC Test rankings despite falling to a 3-0 series whitewash against Pakistan today

England remain the world’s number-one ranked Test side despite their 3-0 series defeat against Pakistan.

Andrew Strauss’ men moved to top spot in the International Cricket Council’s rankings following a comprehensive 4-0 victory over India last summer.

Despite their whitewash at the hands of Pakistan - who gained nine points as a result - being sealed in Dubai today, England stay top.

However, South Africa could soon overhaul them if they whitewash hosts New Zealand 3-0 next month.

That would put the Proteas in position to scoop the US$175,000 jackpot for leading at the April 1 cut-off.

Despite a substantial points gain, Pakistan are still fifth in the rankings, though they are only 10 points adrift of England.
