West Indies skipper Chris Gayle has been named captain of the Stanford Superstars team which will face England on November 1.
The Superstars selection panel, led by Viv Richards, opted for the left-handed batsman to lead the team throughout the lucrative Stanford Super Series, which also involves Trinidad & Tobago and Middlesex.
"Our selection panel gave much thought to this selection and deliberated extensively and there was consensus that Chris is the man for the job," Richards said.
"He's an experienced international cricketer, possesses a cool head and is the best man for the job in this all-important match."
Sylvester Joseph was named vice-captain of the 17-man Superstars squad.
