ECB have confirmed that England spinner Ashley Giles saw a specialist in London on Tuesday in connection with his hip condition.
He has not been able to resume bowling as was hoped in the lead up to the tour to India this spring.
ECB's chief medical officer Peter Gregory said: "Ashley hasn't made the progress that we'd want him to make and he's got some concerns that we share."
He added: "Before we start to push him too hard we thought it sensible to seek a further opinion from the specialist."
