Greig to deliver Cowdrey Lecture
Former England captain Tony Greig will deliver the 12th MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture at Lord's on June 26 2012.
South Africa-born Greig, who led England in the 1970s and subsequently became a noted cricket pundit, will become the latest on an A list of eloquent and high-profile voices to have taken up the engagement since its inauguration in 2001.
Previous speakers have included other greats from the world of cricket and beyond - such as Imran Khan, Adam Gilchrist and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
This year’s lecture was delivered by former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara.
MCC president Phillip Hodson said: "Fiercely competitive on the field and hugely insightful off the field, Tony Greig has had a wonderful career in the game.
"Never one to shun the limelight or shy away from voicing his opinion, I am sure that his MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture will be in keeping with the way he played the game.
"I very much look forward to welcoming him to Lord's to deliver one of the highlights in the MCC calendar, and listen to him tackle some of the key issues that currently surround the game."
