Brilliant Bresnan on the rise
Tim Bresnan’s man-of-the-match performance in England’s nine-wicket victory over West Indies at Trent Bridge has seen him break into the top 20 in the International Cricket Council player rankings.
The Yorkshire all-rounder took eight wickets in the match and contributed a first-innings unbeaten 37 as England retained the Wisden Trophy by taking a 2-0 unassailable series lead.
The 27-year-old has jumped 10 places into 15th in the bowling rankings and his vital 93-ball knock saw him move up to 71st in the batting charts. Bresnan also occupies eighth position in the all-rounder standings.
Other England players on the rise include batsmen Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Strauss, who are 17th and 23rd respectively, while spinner Graeme Swann is up one place into fourth in the bowling rankings.
