Ashes prompts surge in Cardiff sales
Tickets for England’s first Test after their Ashes victory in Australia are in demand, Glamorgan have reported.
Cardiff will host the first npower Test of the summer - against Sri Lanka, starting on May 26 - and a NatWest Series one-day international versus India on September 16.
Combined, more than 25,000 tickets have been snapped up since they went on sale in October. During the last week the club have been selling them at a rate of 400 a day.
“Our phone lines have been ringing non-stop since England won and the website has turned over an enormous number of sales, with many people buying tickets in the early hours, immediately after the victory,” said head of ticketing Caroline Freiha.
“We’ve seen a steady increase in ticket sales since the Ashes series started and, following last week's victory, the sales have gone through the roof.
“The way in which England won has really captured the imagination of the cricketing world - with England putting on a winning display, it has clearly helped with our ticket sales.”
Tickets, from £25, and hospitality can be purchased online at www.glamorgancricket.com or by calling 02920 419311.
Freiha added: “I would encourage people to log on to our website as it’s the easiest way to buy tickets.”
