Chanderpaul facing fitness worry
West Indies’ batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has emerged as a doubt for the third Investec Test against England due to a side strain.
The tourists were excused from announcing their team today as persistent rain prevented even a toss from taking place at Edgbaston.
However, Chanderpaul - the number-one ranked Test batsman - may yet miss out on selection, should he fail to recover from his injury setback.
“He went to the hospital for a scan,” confirmed a West Indies team spokesman. “A day off gives him a chance to see how well he goes.”
West Indies, 2-0 down heading into this final Test of three, have already seen pacemen Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach return home due to injuries.
