Trott and Anderson on the up
Jonathan Trott and James Anderson have risen to second place in the ICC Test Rankings following England’s 196-run victory over India at Lord’s yesterday.
Trott has moved above India’s Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara to sit just behind South Africa’s Jacques Kallis in the batting rankings after innings of 70 and 22 in the 2,000th Test.
Anderson, meanwhile, claimed seven wickets in the opening game of the four-match npower series, including 5-65 in the second innings, to move above team-mate Graeme Swann with a new career-best bowling ranking rating.
Kevin Pietersen returned to the top 20 after he was awarded man of the match at Lord’s following a sublime unbeaten double hundred in England’s first innings and he sits joint 15th alongside Rahul Dravid, who rose seven places after a ton of his own.
England's wicketkeeper-batsman Matt Prior - the other centurion in the match, - has also achieved a new career-best rating, rising 10 places to 21st, while Chris Tremlett’s four wickets in the match have helped him to ninth place in the rankings.
Stuart Broad climbs four places to join Harbhajan Singh, who falls four places, in joint 11th place, while the England seamer has also moved to fifth in the all-rounders table after taking seven wickets and scoring 74 runs.
