Trott keen to impress
Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott says this week's match with England is the perfect platform for him to push forward his international ambitions.
Trott is keen to add to the two Twenty20 appearances he made for England against West Indies two years ago and a decent showing at Edgbaston would enhance his chances of an international recall.
The 28-year-old was part of the England Lions squad that toured New Zealand last winter and although he was not included in the side to face Australia at Worcester this week, some runs against England would give the selectors another nudge.

Jonathan Trott wants to showcase his skills during Warwickshire's match with England at Edgbaston this week
"I want to put my case forward," Trott told ecb.co.uk. "I still have ambitions and this game is a good opportunity as there will be lots of press there."
Runs, however, should be hard to come by with England naming a fit-again Andrew Flintoff for the three-day match alongside fellow seamers Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad. Spinners Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar complete the bowling attack.
"You want to test yourself against the best bowlers - it's why you play the game," he added. "We played against Steve Harmison and Graham Onions last week and this is another test.
"It's my job to get as many runs as possible so that we can get a big total. We want to put England under pressure."
Although the game was scheduled so England can have a final tune-up before the Ashes starts in Cardiff next week, it is a good chance for Warwickshire to reacquaint themselves with the longer form of the game having spent the last week playing in the Twenty20 Cup.
Next week Warwickshire host Sussex where they will attempt to register their first win of the season.
"It's a good opportunity for us," he added. "We start playing four-day cricket again next week after the recent Twenty20 games.
"I don't think it will be hard to switch from Twenty20. As a county cricketer you have to be prepared to adapt from one form to the next. You need to be able to switch from Twenty20 cricket to four-day cricket."
Although Trott is aiming to put England to the sword this week, he will join the millions of cricket fans around the country by cheering on Andrew Strauss' men when the Ashes gets underway.
"England will do really well," Trott predicted. "Their bowling options are strong and it will be interesting to see which spinners play if they play two in Cardiff.
"I have not seen much of Australia but they are not to be under-estimated. To win in South Africa is a big feat."
Tickets for the game, which starts on Wednesday, cost £15 for adults and £5 for children. For more details click here.
