England cricket chief David Morgan will stand against India’s Sharad Pawar for the post of International Cricket Council president this year.
The England and Wales Cricket Board chairman and the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India were the only two names put forward before nominations closed on New Year's Day.
The ICC will vote on a successor to outgoing president Percy Sonn in July.
Morgan, who was recently granted a third term at the helm of the ECB, is believed to have the support of Australia and New Zealand while Pawar is backed by the Asian bloc.
The ICC executive board does have the option of extending Sonn’s term into a third year, but if not his successor will take office from the date of the council’s annual conference in 2008.
