Chapple ruled out of ODI squad
England bowler Glen Chapple has been forced to withdraw from England's one-day squad due to an abdominal muscle strain.
Chapple will return to Lancashire to receive ongoing treatment and has been replaced by Kabir Ali, who has been granted leave from Worcestershire's current Liverpool Victoria County Championship match against Essex, before joining the England squad at Lord's on Friday.
Chapple suffered the injury during England's win over Ireland on Tuesday and after undergoing a fitness test on Thursday it was found he had not recovered sufficiently to play in the NatWest International Twenty20 against Sri Lanka and the opening matches of the forthcoming NatWest Series.
England chairman of selectors, David Graveney, said: "Obviously it's very disappointing for Glen but everyone hopes that after receiving the right treatment at Lancashire he'll be able to rejoin the squad and play a part in the latter stages of the NatWest Series."
