Denesh Ramdin is backing West Indies to raise their game for the forthcoming series of Twenty20 and one-day internationals with England.
The wicket-keeper batsman is confident the tourists will give a better account of themselves than in the recent Test series when beaten 3-0 by Michael Vaughan's side.
And Ramdin is aware both countries will want to bounce back after disappointing performances in the World Cup when neither of them qualified for the semi-finals from the Super Eight.
After two Twenty20 meetings at The Brit Oval on Thursday and Friday, England and the West Indies will play 50-over games at Lord's, Edgbaston and Trent Bridge,
Ramdin said: "Generally for the past couple of years we have been playing good one-day cricket. We reached the final of the ICC Trophy.
"The guys are a lot more keyed up in the one-day cricket. It's more intense and there is a lot of energy out there. It's Caribbean style to play a lot of shots as well.
"Of course, both sides would have expected to have done better in the World Cup this winter. Things didn't go our way back home. We expected to do well as did England.
"They beat us in the final game but hopefully we can get the better of them this time around and all the players can pull together.
"The cricket we have played the last couple of weeks has been up and down and not consistent. It will be a good way to end the tour after the Test series if we can perform well.
"The guys have to work hard and do the basic things right, play as a team, work as one unit and work towards one goal."
Shivnarine Chanderpaul (arm and knee), Devon Smith (thigh) and Ramdin (quad) are all expected to be fit for the opening Twenty20 international.
West Indies coach David Moore knows achieving consistency is the key as demonstrated by a weakened side crushing England Lions but then a virtual full strength line-up being routed for 84 against Derbyshire.
He said: "Consistency is the thing I have been talking about since the start of the tour and it is that which lets us down. There are a few things that need to happen but consistency is definitely one of those."
