Ryan Sidebottom has been ruled out of England's first one-day international against South Africa at Headingley Carnegie tomorrow.
The Nottinghamshire left-arm seamer had a fitness test in the indoor nets today, on the hip and groin injury which has been troubling him recently.
He passed the test but was unable to bowl and will therefore not be playing in the NatWest Series opener.
Sidebottom will be monitored in the next few days to see if he is fit enough for the second match at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
England’s NatWest Twenty20 international against South Africa was washed out earlier this week after torrential rain at the Riverside.
