Tredwell replaces rested Swann
England spinner Graeme Swann has been rested for the last three matches of the NatWest one-day international series against South Africa, with James Tredwell called up as cover.
The Nottinghamshire off-spinner has been carrying a long-term elbow problem in his right arm and will take the next three matches off before returning for the three-game Twenty20 series.
Swann bowled Dean Elgar and AB de Villiers en route to figures of 2-50 in yesterday's defeat to the Proteas in the second ODI.
Tredwell will join the team for training at the Kia Oval tomorrow and will compete with the likes of Samit Patel, Jade Dernbach and Chris Woakes for a place in the England XI.
